PRIME LAMBS & HOGGS

Prime lambs sell well, however more resistance faced in general on the week for sheep.
224 spring lambs forward saw a slight decrease from last weeks fantastic trade.
Hoggs also sold in line with the general trade of late, with especially heavy weight or longer keep sheep a lot harder to sell. Handy weight sheep in both sections very much the desired item.
Texel lambs topped at £169 for a pair from D&K Swarbrick, Out Rawcliffe. Other Texels sold to £166 or 386p/kg for 43kg lambs. The same home then had a 42kg lamb at the same pence per kilo, totalling £162. Lighter spring lambs at 36kg sold to 358.3p/kg from EM Standing, Witherslack.
Hoggs topped at 347.1p/kg for a pair of Texels from BJ Bowness, Kendal. Heavies of which there were many, sold to £164 for a pair from AG Butler, Hambleton. Handy weight hoggs were regularly between the £130 and £140 mark.
Next week maintains the usual start time of 1pm, if you have any questions in relation to the Bluetongue restrictions, please contact one of our auctioneers.
